Channel stacking
In ordinary satellite reception systems, one coaxial cable is needed for every set-top box. In many cases, only one coaxial cable is provided for an apartment, making it impossible to use more than one set-top box (or a PVR Personal Video Recorder). The solution is channel stacking, or single-cable distribution, which allows the transmission of different user bands over one single cable drop. Each user band is dedicated to one receiver.
The receiver, tuned on its dedicated band, selects the desired program using DiSEqCTM commands. Johansson has a range of channel-stacking products, commercialized as One Liner Technology (OLT).
